03 — Founder

Founder
Demetri Kutzke
Demetri Kutzke is the founder of MotherBear Marine and a computer scientist specializing in underwater robotics, perception, and autonomous systems.
He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota, where his work focused on underwater robotic perception, human-robot interaction, and field-deployable sensing systems.
MotherBear Marine grew out of that research and field experience: a recognition that underwater autonomy begins with better data, better sensing, and systems designed around the realities of operating beneath the surface.
04 — Direction
From sensing to perception to autonomy.
HydroEye is the first step. The long-term goal is to build a vertically integrated underwater intelligence platform spanning data acquisition, processing, machine perception, and robotic analysis.
As subsea operations scale, MotherBear Marine aims to provide the data and perception infrastructure that allows divers, operators, and autonomous systems to understand underwater environments in real time.
